When preparing for an interview, you always brainstorm answers to questions you might be asked; name a situation when you managed a conflict, why should we hire you, what is your biggest flaw. That last one was always a trickster, but not because there’s nothing wrong with me (kidding…… but no, really, I’m perfect), but because you never want your potential employer to see any bad in you. An interview is usually your one and only shot at landing a job. One answer could make or break you, just one mistake could cut you from the cold hard competition that is job hunting. So, how do you answer that one little question?
I used to think I would say my flaw is that I am “too detail oriented”. I mean sometimes I am, sometimes I spend ten minutes on something that takes everyone else two. But why is that always a bad thing?
With running your own business, every minuscule detail is so important. Not even talking about the creative side of the products I sell, because that’s another whole side of OCD I’m not quite ready to own up to yet. But when your business is on the line, YOUR name and brand and everything you’ve worked for, you can never be TOO detail oriented.
